back to basics~

"She waited for the train to pass.
Then she said,
"I sometimes think that people’s hearts are like deep wells.
Nobody knows what’s at the bottom.
All you can do is imagine by what comes floating to the surface every once in a while."

Haruki Murakami

she sat...
and waited...
hair a muss..
things needed done...loved ones needed taken care of...
time to get back to basics...
the ABC's...

a basic cardi...
Annabel Bliss Cardi...
All Buttons Cardi...
basic..garter stitch...
Bliss yarn...gradients of charcoal grays

an array of buttons...from All Buttons...gifts,being used....
a reminder...the buttons..
that at times her mother used to do that..

mend with any buttons she had...
she didn't like it then...
she laughs...she likes it now...

the trains have passed by...
it's returning to normal again she thinks..
back to basics...
folded neatly...
put into place...

never apologize for taking care of basics..
like baking birthday cakes...

with ribbon flags..
that seem to have floated to the surface...

no..
no apologies...
sometimes you have to turn off the computer..
and get back to basics...
get to the bottom of that deep well...
and...
getting back to basics...
she says it is time to do taxes........................................

So true "sometimes you have to turn off the computer..
and get back to basics...
get to the bottom of that deep well..."

Oh it's good to see you again my friend. And yes, you do have to turn off the computer and live life off line...yes you do! I hope all is well and good luck on the taxes. ;)

P.S. I am back on flickr, so good to see old friends. xo

how do you do that?! put such beautiful and accurate words to what seem to me like such evasive and vague feelings? such a talent.

the sweater is also lovely. it looks perfect to wear while waiting for things to (re-)surface.

best.
(word verification: "winge") :)

Theresa - love the cardigan - it is so back to basics and so perfect - I really enjoy knits like this one. I have been away from flickr - can't seem to get inspired these days - maybe with spring and summer? I think I might take up knitting again - something basic and satisfying ;) thanks for the inspiration - I can always count on you...hugs Mattie
