the things about friendship~

"One of the strange things about friendship
is that time together isn't canceled out by time apart.
One doesn't erase the other
or balance it on some invisible scale.
You can spend a few hours with someone
and they will change your life,
or you can spend a lifetime with a person
and remain unchanged."

Michael Robotham (The Night Ferry)

True friends you are..
our time apart has not been canceled out..
in my unplanned absence from this refuge of mine.
I have changed..
yet stayed the same in my time away...my time under the bell jar...

funny how hours turn into days turn into weeks..
turn into a month...
December..
and the winds and rain and snow have touched us all..
Thanksgiving has come and gone...
and Christmas and a New Year are on the horizon.
and I want to say..
I appreciate all of you ..
friends..
and leave you with a gift of friendship.

for you all..
enjoy your white time

Beautiful words. That is the beauty of friendship, isn't it? Some friendships need the nearness, others don't.

such timely reflections - my BFF and I were just talking about friendship this weekend! ANd thank you for your generous gift - such beautiful mitts!
I never take the time to read poetry except when I look at your flickr photos or read your blog and I have to say that you have heightened my awareness to the beauty of poetry and how photos are an artistic expression. That's a gift you have given me and I thank you for it.

I also am delighted to see the pattern for crossing lines up!!!

Thank you - the pattern is already printed out and will fill a few frosty Alberta days with fuzzy goodness. My best friendships can pick up after long spells as if no time has passed.

Time does fly so easily. I find myself completely shocked that we are but a few weeks away from Christmas. It's good to pause, and give thanks for beloved friends, and all the things that bless us. Your beautiful messages, images and patterns are definitely things I feel thankful for.

Thank you, T.

Beautiful mitts! Lovely photos. The Bell Jar was a favorite book during college. Such a perfect description of that state of being.

Hope you had a wonderful holiday.

Dear Theresa - how did i miss this heartfelt post? no amount of absence could erode your beautiful presence here. I hope that you have found comfort and joy in your time under the bell jar...in fact if it weren't for a bell jar from time to time - what would we do? best love xx
