a wrap is in order~

"In that moment,
when watches and clocks misbehave
and you feel a cold vapor wrap itself around your heart,
you unconsciously draw a line at the bottom of a long
column of numbers and come up with a sum
Perhaps it's one that fills you with contentment
and endows you with a level of courage and
an acceptance that you didn't know you possessed.
Or maybe not."

James Lee Burke (The Glass Rainbow)

It was time...time to accept...
and release the cold vapors that had wrapped about my heart...
when someone you love ...
is told something that will break all hearts...
it has become time to be courageous for them.
so..
I decided that a warm wrap...
perhaps something,
something that may fill one up with contentment...
was in order...

so I unconsciously drew a line...
and came up with a sum...
9 days and 190 cm later...
I have Selene ...finished and ready to block...

again I brought out the Cocoon ...
in a shade of gray...
one that has clouded my recent days...

but there was light in the background...
that had endowed me with a sense of courage..
some for me...
and some for the other...

there were long roads ahead
some that were ripped...
right from the pages of a good book...
and other roads that may be harder to travel...

but long walks...
and memories....

would surely bring us to a place to reflect...
a place of calm...
a sense of serenity ...
a place of acceptance..
or maybe not~

A wrap is just perfect, somthing to cocoon against the harsh cold vapours.
Day by day, step by step the light draws nearer inch by slow inch.

Breaks my heart to know that you are struggling to come to terms with something that is unacceptable, unfathomable, and unthinkable yet very real for someone.

A cocoon of comfort ~ may your wrap bring peace and healing.

Last year I made a shawl - my first - from one of your patterns. It helped to have that knitting with me as I sat in a very sad place, both physically and emotionally.
And now, when I want to remember my loved one I lift out that shawl and it's like being hugged by my dad again.
Take care,
P x

I think I know a little about how you might feel. My husband was diagnosed with a cancer in february, and, at a time when I might have hoped to take comfort in reading, knitting, sewing and other gentle persuits, I have found myself almost unable to do anything creative. This feeling is beginning to pass, but it has been hard to bear. My thoughts are with you- your words and pictures say so much.

Your beautiful words and pictures, your beautiful knitting - these say something of the courage that you have. Just remember, nothing good or bad lasts forever. You are my friend even if I cannot see you and I visit you every day. You are in my thoughts. Wishing you comfort and peace.

Whatever it is sounds so sad...so hard. I just send you the biggest hug and prayer that you will have grace for whatever it is that has gripped you so.

Your photography is gorgeous, Theresa...and of course, I love your stitches.

God bless!
You look like a warrier in that first photo, T. I hope that bit of fight serves you well during your time of trouble.

I was reminded of Alice Walker's poem...Take the contradictions of your life and wrap around you like a shawl, to parry stones. To keep you warm....

Sending you hugs and wishing you all the strength you need.

While it may not be able to fix the struggle you and your loved one are going through, a wrap and the serenity a trip to the coast always provides is sure to provide some comfort amongst the pain. Thinking of you...
