Happiness ripens like a watermelon,
sweet and rosy on the inside
with only a thin top layer altogether free of small black pits.
And, like a watermelon,
the whole thing can be covered with a plain dark rind."
E.L.Konigsburg
It is July...
it is summer....
and happiness ripens with each sweet watermelon
not too loud....
just bright enough...
this watermelon was made...
for a perfect little girl..
who is as sweet and rosy on the inside...
as she is on the outside...
and there is a thin layer...
altogether free of tiny black pits~
where there is a layer of natural sweetness...
Now.. really...
what could be better than not being loud...
or crowded...
and being able to savor the sweet taste of melon...
right down to the dark rind?
