I have been thinking... there is a Latin word ..reinfecta... it means the business of being unfinished; without accomplishing one's purpose
why have these berries survived the harsh Winter?
I suppose I have just been puzzled of late,
so I decided to work a puzzle...
maybe help me sort things out... an Early American puzzle ball,
made of over dyed velvet, and over dyed linen
and a piece of antique wool paisley.
Old buttons and new buttons and linen thread
I cut... and I sewed
everything by hand
and it was puzzling to think that these pieces would fit together...
into a ball.
Now,there is controversy as to the purpose of these balls,
whether used as pincushions
or for fun
it did give someone much to ponder... but in the end...
it did come together
into a treasure...
I think I will use it as a pincushion...
or then, maybe just for fun... my purpose this month was to finish a knit...
I have not achieved my purpose,
but there IS work going on
there are sleeves...and a back... there is even a little opening in the ice...
a promise of Spring.
So, then...
I have been thinking...

comfort for a friend

"We shall find peace. We shall hear angels, we shall see the sky sparkling with diamonds" Chekov An angel for Nora comfort... peace... courage... a flickering flame... to lead the way... be not afraid... you are not alone...

a hush fills the air
a silent storm
a land of white
there is work going on
there is more work to do
the back is complete
rolled and ready
like these graceful dancers
my hands will move the needles
into my land of white and not so white
where I plan to be for quite a while
and the reward can taste so good.

January. The first month of a new year, all the traces of the Holidays are gone everything is put away everything is clean But it's January January is bleak January is cold dreary, lifeless The sun rarely shines here, the snow gets dirty. I want to hibernate. I have difficulty choosing projects, completing anything. I want this January to be different. So after lengthy bouts of thinking...and wondering... I came to a decision. Now is not the time for complexities. Now is the time to get back to basics. My grandmother taught me to knit as a child. and that is what I did...knit...everything garter stitch. At that time, in my childish mind...the most complex I could think of was K1P1... So I have decided to go back to basics... and K2P1 will be my friend...for awhile, until I have completed this project.
Lena...from Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Collection. I am using Berocco Pure merino Dk in a pale, slight grey. Sort of a winter white. Barley. And I have the perfect button a gift that needs to be showcased
and I believe this is the way to do it...
but you undoubtedly will help me decide
So I will work, and work...and hopefully complete this project... to make this January different for me. I did get a little sunshine though
Isn't this scarf lovely?
A ray of sunshine to start my month thank you Lucy.
for the buttons, too And thank you for remembering my hands!
