day 3

I made these scarfs last night for the girls. It dosen't matter to them that for the past 5 years I've knit between them at least a dozen sweaters--no--I never made them a scarf-so they went through my stash and thankfully picked out 2 balls of novelty yarn that only God knows why I bought them...anyway here they are..and the girls LOVED them
Hailey Ann is PREGNANT! She asked for this shrug... so she will have it--shopping and lunch out today, scratch those from the list...bought the yarn and will cast on hopefully tomorrow.
The other is one for me...the yarn is should try it...and oh-I did vacuum-haha

day 2

Well it's day 2 and I haven't scratched anything off the list yet. what I did was:
  • Look around on Flickr
  • get the mail and find this package from historicallydestash's shop on Etsy
  • these are antique knitting needles from England
  • make my favorite breakfast drink:
  • the recipe is simple- a 4oz carton of lowfat vanilla yogurt,1 banana cut up,fill the empty yogurt cup with skim milk,a splash of honey,3 or 4 ice cubes and a few almonds-whole or slivered.Sometimes I add a few raspberries or strawberries-fresh or frozen-put in blender-frappe-pour-drink-ahhh...
  • talk on the phone
  • mess are with the blog settings
  • and take this picture of my poppies waiting to bloom
It's early-I have plenty of time for the list....

day dreaming

What a great way to start a week off from work-looking at some of my favorite pics-the girls will be over soon to have their EGG HUNT,because when you are a nurse working most holidays is a given...but as I said I am off ALL week and this is what I would like to accomplish:

  1. Getting some rest--really gonna happen?
  2. Finish the felted slippers-likely
  3. Work on Kilcar-I hope to...but I keep starting other projects
  4. Finish reading DUMA KEY
  5. Make the rod sleeves for Dad...not really much fun but he asked and he is dad...
  6. start spring cleaning...what is that anyway?
  7. Shopping and lunches out-yeah

Let's see what I end up doing...

Easter 2008

This is my gram..I miss her...she will be gone 5 years this May-she passed 1 week before my first grandaughter was born. Eastertime always makes me think of her..she was the most wonderful cook-my grandparents both came from northern Italy-so you can imagine the tastiest dishes that I have had the pleasure to consume-I learned all I know about cooking from her-I hope that I am half the cook she of our favorite easter treats was Ricotta Pie-she made the best, and we couldn't wait to eat this traditional dessert every year-it is typically made with a top and bottom crust-but lately I have been making it without-less calories-so you can enjoy another piece if you want!- I'd like to share my recipe and hope you will try it sometime on your Easter Sunday:

Ricotta Cheesecake

*3# ricotta cheese(whole or skim milk type)

*1 1/2 cups sugar

*8 eggs

* 1 tsp vanilla extract and ground cinnamon

Combine cheese, sugar, eggs and vanilla with an electric mixer and beat until smooth. Pour batter into a buttered 13 x 9 x2 " baking pan. Sprinkle with cinnamon. Bake @ 300 F. for 1 hour-cool -eat- enjoy- really good served with fresh raspberries! My gram was the person who thaught me to knit-I was about 11-she taught the neighbor kids-boys too -that summer-I've never looked back...I love would have too.

Well,as you can see I have been having some fun making crayons rolls-they were sooo much fun-and won't the girls be surprised on Easter to see these in their baskets?
I made 3-fabrics are the same,but different-like the girls!
The color is the great shade of blue-green-I've seen it called lagoon,ocean-whatever-I LOVE IT-even my glasses are this color!
I found the tutorial here -but some things I did:
* I used medium ric-rac
* 1/4 in. wide ribbon
* I splurged on the jumbo washable crayolas-moms everywhere will be grateful!
Now-some fun for me-the other roll-ups are mine-they are sewing roll-ups made from wool and old muted fabrics-and I love these-these particular ones were from kits from a great designer of primitive type folk art -Maggie Bonanomi-I've taken a couple classes from her in Wisconsin at a great shop called the Country Sampler..visit them--make yourself one-maybe I'll do a tutorial...

My moments of clarity come in the 2 or 3 am-I'm not actively seeking them,at least I don't think so,but nevertheless-there they are. They are sharp and inciteful-my whole day can be changed by a moment of clarity. The changes I have made are becoming more permanent and I like that...

This a new knitting bag-I love to organize and this one is perfect-lots of rooom and I can draw the top together and my yarn stays put while I work! I am just am organizer by nature-I seem to have to a.) clean up ,b.) get everything straightened up-is that the same as cleaning up? and c.) have everything in its place-all my ducks in a row -in order to start a new project. That is just the way my BRAIN works! Maybe it's an excuse to by new bags?
